Skipper Leadership Team Announcement
After 16 years at Rolling River Day Camp as a Skipper head counselor and Supervisor of the Skipper Division, GINA MAURO will be unable to continue in her role due to summer requirements from her present teaching position. Gina’s wonderful disposition will be sorely missed by our “littlest campers”, parents and staff. However, she looks forward to visiting RRDC and helping in the transition in any way possible. We were extremely lucky to have such a loyal and superb individual on our leadership team for so many years. We wish Gina the best of luck in her new position and are thrilled she will still be involved in the Skipper division whenever possible. Her confidence in our choice of her predecessor, Jill Bloom, is overwhelming!
JILL BLOOM has spent nearly every summer of her life at summer camp! A native of Oceanside, she could be seen smiling and laughing at Camp DeBaun for thirty-one years. Jill began as a preschool camper and worked her way up the ranks. During the past 15 years, when Jill is not in camp, she teaches ELA in the NYC Public School system. No stranger to working with children, Jill has also taught in preschool and is extremely involved in her 2 childrens’ extra-curricular activities. Her husband, Roger, is also an educator as Principal of Island Trees Memorial Middle School. After working at Rolling River Day Camp for the past 5 years in our Skipper Specialty Area, as well as leading many Skipper Special Events, we are ecstatic to have Jill join our Leadership Team. She has proven to the staff and parent body that she is a true camp professional and most important to our Skipper campers, extremely patient and nuturing!
